How Do I Volunteer

Live life to the fullest…VOLUNTEER!!

The Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau is a non-profit, United Way member agency that matches interested people with their choice of rewarding volunteer opportunities from over 100 community service organizations throughout Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark. There are many of fulfilling volunteer opportunities in areas such as children and youth, seniors, health, the environment, arts and culture, special events and more!

How does it work?

We have the connections! First, we will have you fill out a Volunteer Application form for the Volunteer Centre, which you can find below. Next, we will book an appointment for you to meet with one of us here at the Volunteer Centre!

How we make a difference in your community

The Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau  works to build a healthier, stronger, and more caring community in a variety of ways:

~ Matching volunteers with non-profit agencies who can use their skills, energies, and experiences

~ Providing tools, training and consulting services to help non-profit agencies manage volunteer resources effectively (This ensures that volunteers have a rewarding experience and their contribution has maximum impact on the community).

~ Assisting employers in developing workplace volunteer programs

~ Developing tomorrow’s community leaders today through leadership training programs

~ Providing supported volunteer experiences for new Canadians and consumers of mental health services

~ Promoting the growth of volunteering in Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark through media, corporate relations and our website

Volunteer Quote

"Volunteering has become a big part of my life since I moved to Brockville in 2008. The Volunteer  Centre has introduced  me to a number of non- profit organizations  such as Brockville Area Community Living, Big Brothers Big Sister, and the Volunteer Income Tax Program, among others. Volunteering has helped introduce and connect me to more people and places in Brockville than I ever would have expected. Volunteering gave me the opportunity to help people, to network and to make new friends, and it’s given me the confidence to search for paid employment. Volunteering has helped to fulfill my passion of helping others, but most of all it as given me the strength to help myself. Thank You Volunteer Centre."- Myra

Do it for others! Enjoy the pleasure of helping others by making your community a better place, or promoting a cause you believe in.

So you’ve read the available information and you want to involve yourself. Great! Here’s how.

If you would like some assistance to match your volunteer energy to an appropriate community need, then simply call the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau to make an appointment to meet with a volunteer interviewer.
