Aquatarium

If you are…

Passionate about the St. Lawrence River and the 1000 Islands
Excited to learn new things, meet new people, and promote everything that the area has to offer
Willing to contribute at least 4 hours a week

…then you should apply to be an Aquatarium Ambassador!

The Aquatarium is currently recruiting volunteers with excellent communication skills who are enthusiastic, outgoing conversationalists excited to share experiences, inspire curiosity, and promote the Region.

The Board and staff of the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau are pleased to announce that Diane Wright has been appointed the new Manager of the Aquatarium Volunteer Program and commenced her duties in July 2017.

“Her experience as a committed volunteer and her skills in working with the public will provide ongoing leadership in the recruitment of volunteers as well as the development and implementation of the Aquatarium Volunteer Program” says Harold Hess, Manager of the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau.

Volunteering is alive and thriving in the region with non-profits and community members benefiting from the time and talents of many dedicated volunteers. Contact the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau to learn how you can give through services to the Aquatarium and the community. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, or contact us at volunteercentre.ca or aquatarium.ca.

The Aquatarium will inspire curiosity in the 1000 Islands Region of the St. Lawrence River through entertaining and interactive experiences. The professional, well-trained volunteers will serve as regional ambassadors enhancing the enriching experience of the visitors to the facility.

What does volunteering with the Aquatarium involve?

Volunteers will be given training so that they have the skills and knowledge to work at any and all of the dozen “experiences” at the  Aquatarium. These experiences include a salt-water touch tank, a ropes course, a “power of water” exhibit featuring a hydroelectric  generation table, a library with a secret passage, and much more.

Aquatarium Ambassadors will also have the chance to meet visitors from around the world, share interesting facts about the exhibits,  and provide local tourism information to promote the Region.
